Rosemary Marie Jenkins, 69 of Grand Island, died Monday, January 9, 2017 at CHI St. Francis Health in Grand Island. Apfel Funeral Home is caring for the family.



Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, January 20, 2017 at St. Mary's Cathedral in Grand Island. Interment will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery. Father James Golka will be officiating.



Visitation will be from 4-7 P.M. on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island. A Rosary will follow at 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date.



Rosemary was born on May 26, 1947 in Kearney Nebraska to Manuel & Angeline (Hernandez) Rivera.



Rosemary lived with her sister and brother-in-law Elizabeth & Henry Vega along with her husband, Emory Jenkins for 20 happy years. Rosemary enjoyed playing checkers, playing cards, and playing the game Trouble with all of her loved ones. She was a mother to all of her siblings, grand kids, nieces and nephews. Everybody she met or came across, she always knew how to make them feel at home. She was a great cook and made the best homemade tortillas. Rosemary left a great impact on a lot of peoples lives and she will forever live in our hearts and memories.



Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Emory Jenkins of Grand Island; sisters and brothers-in-law, Elizabeth & Henry Vega of Grand Island, Lisa Rivera of Grand Island, Mageline & Lloyd Cash of Kearney, Lucille & Guadalupe Pacheco of Kearney, Helen & Delbert Bickford of Kearney; brothers and sister-in-law, Joe Sr. and Dorothy Rivera of Grand Island and Paul Rivera of Kearney; son, Reyes Torres; along with plenty of grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and friends that she treated just like her own.



She was preceded in death by her parents; 3 sisters, Virginia Mancilla, Gracey Ortiz, & Victoria Deras; 2 brothers, Reynaldo Rivera and Manuel Rivera, Jr.
