Roy W. Boltz, Jr, 82, of Grand Island died Monday, May 5, 2014 at his daughters home in Clarks, Nebraska.



Services will be at 10 am on Friday, May 9, 2014 at Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island with the Pastor Ross Aerni and Rev. Theresa Mason officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation hours will be on Thursday evening from 5 to 8 pm at the Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island. Memorials are suggested to the family who will designate at a later time. Apfel Funeral Home is caring for the family.



Roy W. Boltz Jr. was born October 11, 1931 in Shelton, Nebraska the son of Roy W. Sr. & Florence (Oliver) Boltz. He grew up in Wood River and received his education from Wood River Public School, graduating from Wood River High School with the class of 1949. He entered the United States National Guard in 1951, serving until his discharge in 1958.



He was united in marriage to Nancy West on December 20, 1952 in Gibbon, Nebraska. The couple made their home in Chapman before moving to Grand Island where he was employed by Mid Nebraska Feeds for over 40 years, retiring in 1996. Mrs. Boltz preceded him in death in 2006.



He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Grand Island, Nebraska, Eagles Club and the American Legion.



He enjoyed showing chickens, camping, hunting, fishing, yard work, gardening along with woodworking, but especially time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.



Those left to cherish his memory include three daughters & sons-in-law, Sue & Larry Bigley of Grand Island, Debra & Larry Wicht of Grand Island, Barb Aerni & Jerry Church of Clarks, Nebraska, 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, three sisters, Lois & husband Melvin Dahlke of Grand Island, Laura Pipes of West Monroe, Louisiana, Marlyn McIntosh of Gibbon, and a brother and sister-in-law, Jerome & Janet Boltz of Grand Island, Nebraska.



He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Nancy, daughter, Linda Boltz, brothers, Robert & Glenn Boltz.
