Hastings resident, Ruby Dent, 93, passed away Friday, May 21, 2010, at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital; Hastings, NE. Services will be Monday, May 24, 2010 at 10:30 AM at the Grace United Methodist Church, in Hastings, NE with the Rev. Dr. Matt Fowler officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Hastings, NE. Visitation will be Sunday, May 23, 2010 from 12 noon to 9 PM at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home, Hastings, NE. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Ruby was born on a farm near Greeley, NE on April 29, 1917 to Gotthard and Jennie (Johnson) Landen. Ruby had 4 sisters and 6 brothers. She married Bert M Dent on June 20, 1941 in Gering, NE. They had two children Susan (Dent) Ljunggren and Randy Dent. After WWII they ranched in Nebraska and then moved to Oklahoma for about 3 years. They returned to Nebraska in 1953 to work in Hyannis. Ruby worked part time at a home town bakery, often with her children. Later they moved to Mullen where they owned the Mullen Standard Service Station. They retired to Hastings in 1989. She loved being outdoors to garden and tend her roses. She also enjoyed crocheting and watching baseball, football and womens college sports. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her children and spouses, Susan and Keith Ljunggren of Harvard, NE, and Randy and Linda Dent of Tucson, AZ; 5 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, her twin sister Ruth Frerichs, sister Jennie Spitler, brother Lloyd Landen. Her husband Bert preceded her in death along with their twin infant sons, her parents, 5 brothers and 2 sisters. A memorial will be established.
