Former Hastings resident, Ruth E. Wiklund-Campbell, 75, died, Monday, August 14, 2006 at the Kenesaw Haven Home, Kenesaw, NE. Services will be Friday, August 18, 2006 at the First United Methodist Church at 2 PM with Dr. William E. Deahl and Rev. Earl Higgins officiating. No viewing the body was cremated, book signing 8 AM to 5 PM Thursday, August 18, 2006. Inurnment will be at a later date in Stockton, Ks. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Mrs. Campbell was born January 12, 1931 to James and Josephine (Noyce) Fleming, in Stockton, Kansas. She graduated from Paseo High School in Kansas City, in 1949. On June 28, 1950 she married Carl Wiklund. They moved to Hastings, NE from Lawrence, KS in 1961. After his death in 1986, she worked at PS Chicks Childrens Store in Hastings until her wedding to Rev. Clarence Campbell on October 7, 1989. He preceded her in death, July 2, 1997. Ruth was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Hasting, and a volunteer at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings, NE. She is survived by daughters, Carla (Peter) Hedstrom and Carrie (Bob) Sheppard of Hastings, NE and son Roland (Christine) Wiklund of Lincoln; stepchildren, Marcia (Pat) Eriksen, of Sioux City, IA, Laurie (Owen) Yardley, of Lincoln, and Paul (Lisa) Campbell of Rochester, NY; grandchildren, Jim and Karin Hedstrom, Brett and Greer Wiklund, Ben , Curtis, and Annie Sheppard; step grandchildren, Amanda, Bethany and Leila Erikson, Michael, Allison and Aaron Yardley and Lila and Gifford Campbell; eight great grandchildren, and numerous nephews and nieces. Ruth enjoyed music, traveling in the U.S. and Europe, homemaking and shopping, however, her biggest joy was her family and friends, whom she inspired with her courage in her battle against cancer. She is preceded in death by both her parents,2 husbands, 2 brothers, and 1 sister. Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church in Hastings, NE or to Haven Home in Kenesaw, NE.
