Sandra L. Bombeck, 77, of Shelton, died Friday, July 11, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Society in Wood River, Nebraska.
Services will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island. The Reverend Rich Maciejewski will be officiating. Burial of Ashes will be at a later date in the Riverside Cemetery in Gibbon, Nebraska. To honor Sandras wishes, there will not be a public visitation. Memorials are suggested to the Kearney Humane Society or the Grand Island Humane Society.
Sandra was born on May 15, 1937 in Kearney, Nebraska to Frank and Louise (Skinner) Lowenstein, Jr. She grew up in Shelton and attended District 10 Country School north of Shelton and Shelton Public School. She majored in music at UNL and Hastings College.
She was united in marriage to Vaughn Bombeck on May 1, 1956 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She was a sales associate at Casual Corner and Pier 1 most of her working career.
Sandra was a talented musician, and especially enjoyed playing her accordion. She enjoyed oil painting, flower gardening, and flower arranging. She was an avid reader of Recipe Books.
Survivors include her husband, Vaughn Bombeck of Shelton; daughters, JoLynn Moffett and husband, Mickey of Shelton and Pamela Avera and companion, Mike Stalder of Gibbon; son, Todd Bombeck of St. Simons Island, Georgia; grandchildren and spouses, Melissa and Marc Willis, Tyler and Kate Bombeck, Adair and Jason Reese, Cortney and Jeff Holbert, Quincy Schmidt and companion, Angie Nelson; great-grandchildren, Louis Bombeck, Ann Marie Bombeck, Charlie Bombeck, Ava Reese, Alec Reese, Isabella Willis, Cooper Willis; furbabies, Lydia and LuLu; numerous cousins and friends.
Sandra was preceded in death by her parents; and infant daughter, Adair.
