Shana A. Hickok, 59, of Cairo, NE formerly of Atkinson, NE died on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at Grand Island Regional Hospital. A Memorial Service will be at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Dannebrog, NE with Pastor Sheri Lodel officiating. Private inurnment will be at a later date. Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date. Apfel Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements, online condolences may be left at www.apfelfuneralhome.com. 

Shana was born on October 28, 1964, at Atkinson, NE to Verne and Jeanene (Johnson) Hickok. She grew up in Atkinson and graduated from West Holt High School in 1982. She attended college at Northeast Community College in Norfolk, NE and then went to Kearney State College where she received her teaching degree. Shana moved to LaVista where she worked for La Petite Academy for many years. She also worked for Children’s Square in Omaha. Shana moved to Cairo to be closer to family and then worked at Gibbon High School as a para professional. 

She was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Dannebrog where she served on the church council. She was also a part of the daughters of the American Legion. Shana enjoyed crafting, photography, and art was always a passion of hers. 

Shana is survived by her father, Verne of Cairo, NE; brothers: David Hickok of Twin Falls, ID and Donn (Vikki) Hickok of Cairo, NE; three nieces; and one nephew. 

She is preceded in death by her mother; brother, Darian; and grandparents.
