Sharon K. Phinney

December 15, 1949 — December 8, 2016

Hastings resident, Sharon K. Phinney, 66 passed away Thursday, December 08, 2016 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital. She passed away after a yearlong battle with ALS.



Services will be Monday. December 12, 2016 at 10:30 am at the First United Methodist Church, Hastings with Pastor Greg Lindenberger and Pastor Sam Rathod officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings. There will be no viewing; Sharons wishes were to be cremated. Visitation will be Sunday, December 11, 2016 with family present from 2 pm to 4 pm at the Apfel Funeral Home Chapel. Apfel Funeral Home, Hastings is in charge of the arrangements. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.apfelfuneralhome.com.



Memorials may be given to the family to be designated to organizations that helped Sharon through her Lou Gehrigs Disease struggle.



Sharon was born December 15, 1949 in Hastings, NE to Donald and Gwen (Kennedy) Lamborn. She graduated from Hastings Senior High in 1968. Sharon married Henry Phinney on March 1969 in Hastings; together they had two daughters, Jill and Holly. Sharon worked as a secretary at Schwesers Department Store and then in the counselors office at the Hastings Senior High School, retiring in 2009 after 29 years.



She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and taught Sunday school and Bible school.



She is survived by her husband, Henry, two daughters, Jill and Trenton Waite and Holly Phinney, two grandchildren, Thane and Kaley Waite, two sisters, Cheryl and Doug Stutzman and Alice Robinson and friend Ron Beach all of Hastings, and one brother, Don and Kay Lamborn, of Texas, sister-in-law, Sharon and Donald Thomas, brother in-law, Randy Stutzman all of Hastings, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and numerous friends.



She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Mary Stutzman.
