Sidney "Sid" R Moe

Sidney “Sid” R. Moe, 81, of Grand Island died Sunday, October 17, 2021, at his home. Memorial Service will be 10:30 AM Saturday, October 23, 2021, at Apfel Funeral Home with Brandon Bachle officiating. Family will greet friends from 4-6 PM Friday at Apfel Funeral Home. Sidney R. Moe was born in Carthage, SD, on July 27, 1940, to Robert and Gladys (Johnson) Moe. He attended and graduated from Carthage High School in 1958. Then attended the University of South Dakota at Vermillion, SD.



Sid married Patricia Ball in 1963 and had four children. Lori, Bruce, David, and Dale. They lived in Grand Island and Wood River, NE until the mid-1980’s. Sid was united in marriage to Jeanette “Jan” Curlo in Las Vegas, Nevada on August 9, 1990. With his marriage to Jan, Sid gained two step-sons, Brian and Shawn Flebbe.



Sid was employed by AT&T for 30 years and retired in 1989. After moving back to Grand Island from Omaha, he worked part time at Dubs Sporting Goods and various other positions. Sid shared his love of all things hunting with his kids, grandkids, and numerous friends.



He was a member of the Saddle Club and the Sons of the American Legion. Sidney also enjoyed all things outdoors. Sid enjoyed playing card games and getting his grandsons up early in the morning for their detasseling jobs.



He is survived by his wife, Jeanette "Jan" Moe of Grand Island; daughter, Lori (Charlie) Wortman of Ogallala, NE; sons: Bruce (Peggy) Moe of North Platte, NE, Dale (Jody) Moe of Fredrick, CO, Bret (Kim) Johnson of Lehi, UT; stepsons: Brian Flebbe of Grand Island; Shawn (Kelly) Flebbe of Grand Island; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Wally Moe of Nicollet, MN; sister, Carole Prostrollo of Lovell, WY.



He was preceded in death by his parents and his son David Moe.
