Stanley E. Lippstreu

July 4, 1921 — March 12, 2010

Hastings resident, Stanley E. Lippstreu, 88, passed away Friday, March 12, 2010 at his home. Services will be Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at 10:30 AM at the First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Alan Davis officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, NE with military rites. Visitation will be 9 AM to 9 PM, Tuesday, March 16, 2010 with the family present from 6 PM to 8 PM at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home, Hastings, NE, and one hour prior to service time. Condolences may be sent to www.brandwilson.com. Stanley was born July 4, 1921, to Walter H. and Mary A. (Lienemann) Lippstreu, northwest of Bloomington, NE. In 1931 the family moved to a farm northwest of Huntley, NE where he attended school, graduating in 1938. He attended Hastings Business College and Hastings College. He enlisted in the United States Army, August 13, 1942, and served in the European Theatre of Operations and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for valor at Omaha Beach in the summer of 1944 in Normandy, France. He was honorably discharged from the Army on November 9, 1945 with the rank of Staff Sergeant. He married Margie E. Blackburn of Ragan, NE on December 22, 1945. They returned to Hastings, NE completing his education at Hastings College while working for Hastings Industries Inc, retiring from there, February 10, 1984. Stanley was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the American Legion Post #11, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1346, the Elks Lodge #159, the Masonic Lodge #317 and the Mary Lanning Hospital Auxiliary, all in Hastings, NE. He also served 2 terms on the Hastings Area Chamber of Commerce and the Hastings Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors. He is survived by his wife, Margie, of Hastings, NE, 4 sons, Kenneth of Prudenville, MI, Randall and wife Tami of Scottsbluff, NE, Robert of Hastings, NE, Douglas and wife Patty of Lincoln, NE. 5 grandchildren, Scott of New York City, NY, Angela of Lincoln, NE, Charles of Washington, D.C. and Chester of Lincoln, NE and Kate of New York City, NY, and 1 brother Lloyd of Omaha, NE and numerous relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother Arlo. Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church, Hastings, NE or the donors choice.
