Thaddeus "'Ted'" Grabowski

Thaddeus Ted Grabowski, 88, of Grand Island died Saturday, January 16, 2016 at CHI Health St. Francis in Grand Island.



Services will be at 10:30 am on Thursday, January 21, 2015 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Rev. Todd Phillipsen officiating. Private committal services will be at a later date. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm on Wednesday evening at the church with a 7 pm Scripture Wake Service. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society. Apfel Funeral Home is serving the family.



Thaddeus Grabowski was born on December 21, 1927 on a farm near Ashton, Nebraska, the son of Jacob and Anna (Woijtalewicz) Grabowski. He grew up and attended St. Francis Catholic School in Ashton.



Ted was united in marriage to Monica Mona Maiefski on November 25, 1950 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Ashton. The couple lived in Ashton and Lincoln before moving to Colorado in 1955. They moved to Westminster, Colorado in 1957 and Ted worked as a Machinist and Process Engineer in the Aerospace Industry. In 1987, following his retirement, the couple bought and operated a rental shop in Delta, Colorado. Ted moved to Grand Island in 2004.



Ted was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Elks Clubs in Colorado, and the Good Sam Camping Club. He enjoyed dancing, camping, woodworking, tinkering with and building things as well as taking care of his yard.



Survivors include a son; Randy Grabowski of Westminster, CO, a daughter; Kimberly Grabowski of Westminster, CO, two grandchildren and one great grandchild.



Ted was preceded in death by his wife Mona; a daughter: Thadine Giambalvo, three brothers; Leonard, Floyd and Harry and two sisters: Veronica and Blanche.
