Former Hastings resident, Theodore "Ted" Dick, 89, passed away Friday, January 27, 2006, at the Columbine East care facility in Fort Collins, Colorado. Services will be Thursday, February 2, 2006 at 10:30 AM at the Brand-Wilson Chapel, Hastings with the Rev. Earl Higgens officiating; NE. Burial will follow with military rites at the Sunset Memorial Gardens in Hastings. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 1, 2006 from 9 AM to 9 PM at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home and one hour prior to service at the Brand-Wilson Chapel. Condolences may be sent to the family from, www.brandwilson.com. Mr. Dick was born February 14, 1916 in Lincoln NE, his parents were Louis and Margaret Viola (Smith) Dick. He was raised in Hastings, Nebraska. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the Army 134th Infantry during the European Campaign from 1941-1945. Following the war he married Irma (Johnson) of Hastings on September 14, 1946, and they soon moved to Otis, Colorado. He worked as a meat cutter for a small general store in Otis. He served in the Volunteer Fire Department and was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church there, In 1970 they moved back to Hastings where he worked in the meat department at Allen's in Hastings, NE. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and was active in the Midwest Lodge #317. In later years he could be seen around Hastings walking his beloved black dog Skipper. In 2004 he moved to a care facility in Fort Collins Colorado to be closer to his family. He was a kind and loving husband and father and will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife Irma of Fort Collins, two sons, Donald and family of Fort Collins Colorado, Gary of Loveland, Colorado, and one brother Louis and family of Phoenix, Arizona. He is preceded in death by his parents, and 1 sister Thelma Simpson. Memorials may be given to the Adams County Veterans Memorial Fund.
