Thomas Shane Jordan, 70 Jordy by close friends and old classmates, of Grand Island died Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at CHI Health St. Francis, Grand Island.

Services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 11, 2015 at Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island with Derek Apfel CFC officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Grand Island. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time on Friday at the Apfel Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the family. Apfel Funeral Home is caring for the family.

Thomas Shane Jordan was born February 6, 1945 in Grand Island the son of Bernard & Dorothy (Ganow) Jordan. He grew up in Grand Island where he worked as a newspaper boy at the age of five on the corner of 2nd and Locust and continued working for the Grand Island Independent and Omaha World Herald (or sometimes both at the same time) until old enough to work for one of his uncles doing brick construction and landscaping. He received his education in Grand Island, graduating from Grand Island Central Catholic with the class of 1963 where he was known as Jordy. He later purchased his uncles landscaping business, which he owned and operated for approximately nine years. He was employed by Hornady Manufacturing Company for 20 years, sold real estate for Home Real Estate and was a salesman at Menards for 20 years, retiring in 2010 due to health issues.

He was united in marriage to Kathleen Cargill onAugust 16, 1969 in Grand Island. The couple met while working together at Hornadys. Two children were born to this union, Mendy and Joshua.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Kathleen Jordan of Grand Island; a daughter & son-in-law, Mendy & Maurice Donley of Grand Island; son, Joshua Jordan of Grand Island; five grandchildren, Austin, Braydon, Mikayla, Trevon, brothers, Tim & Donna Anderson Jordan of Moab, Utah, Sam Jordan of Lincoln, NE, & Pat Jordan; aunt, Marguerite Hansen of Ogallala, NE; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; many nieces & nephews along with a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard & Dorothy; and grandmother, Louise Jordan.
