Todd Carpenter, 52, passed away in his sleep at his Phoenix home on December 11, 2016. Funeral services will be Friday, December 16 at 2:30pm at Apfel Funeral Home, 1123 W. 2nd St., Grand Island, followed by A Celebration of Life at Riverside Country Club, 2820 Riverside Dr., from 4-7pm.
Visitation will be Thursday, December 15 from 5-7pm at Apfel Funeral Home.
Todd was born March 8, 1964 in Lincoln, Nebraska, the son of Rex and Jonni Carpenter. Todd graduated from Grand Island Senior High in 1982 and then played football on scholarship for the University of Nebraska as an offensive tackle from 1982 to 1986. Playing as a Husker for Tom Osborne was one of the highlights of Todds life.
Always a car man, Todd opened Carpenter Motors in 1986 in Lincoln. In 2006 he retired from the automobile business and moved to warmer weather in Scottsdale Arizona. Todd enjoyed spending time with his family and his many friends, collecting and racing cars, riding motorcycles, boating, coaching football and playing poker.
In constant motion, Todd fit a lot of life into his 52 years. Todd is survived by his parents, Rex & Jonni (Jonadyne Allen) Carpenter, brothers Scott Carpenter (Theresa) and Michael Carpenter (Holly), sister Amie Martinez (Victor Rawl), Goddaughters Ellie & Averie Martinez, nieces Haley (Carpenter) Bogdasarian, Alexis Carpenter and Simmons Rawl, nephews Ethan Carpenter and Beckett Rawl, maternal grandmother Geraldine Allen, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Audrey Carpenter and John Allen. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the American Diabetes Association.
