Vankham Boutmahavong

Vankham Boutmahavong, 74, of Grand Island, NE died on Saturday, October 30, 2021, at home in Grand Island. Funeral service will be 9:00 AM Saturday, November 6, 2021, at Apfel Funeral Home. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Apfel Funeral Home.



Vankham was born on June 3, 1947, in Vientiane, Laos to Siengboutdi and Bouapha Boutmahavong. He was united in marriage to Ouphayvanh in 1973. After which the couple lived in Vientiane, Laos. Vankham migrated his family to the Unites States in 1980 and landed in Amarillo, TX. In 1985, his family moved to Grand Island. After working at JBS for 33 years Vankham retired in 2018.



He enjoyed his time fishing and tending to his garden along with karaoke, storytelling, and most importantly spending time with his family.



He is survived by his spouse; Ouphayvanh Boutmahavong; children: Villa (Jim), Souks (Jenna), Am, and Sandy (Pho); grandchildren: Johnny, Taylor, Riley, Ava, and Madi; and one great grandchild, Braydan.



He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and two brothers.
