Hastings resident, Vaughn Ochsner, 81, died Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at his home. Funeral Service will be Monday, September 21, 2009 at 10:30 AM at the First United Methodist Church, Hastings, NE with the Rev. Alan Davis officiating. Masonic services will be held at the church by the Mid-West Lodge #317, with Bill Morrow as orator following the funeral service. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Hastings, NE with military rites. Visitation will be Sunday, 12 noon to 9 PM at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home, Hastings, NE with the family present from 4 PM to 6 PM. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Vaughn was born March 15, 1928, to Fred and Blanche (Bishop) Ochsner, in Stockham, NE. He graduated from Hastings High School in 1946. He had lived in Hastings most of his life coming from Stockham, NE. He married Elizabeth Beth Boggs on September 16, 1950 at the First United Methodist Church in Hastings, NE. Vaughn was a Sergeant in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from January 16, 1951 to October 21, 1952. He owned and operated Vaughns Mobil and also worked as an auto mechanic. During retirement he helped his brother and nephews with harvesting on their farms. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Hastings, NE and a member of the Tehama Shrine, Mid-West Lodge #317, a former York Rite member, Mobile Nobles, and a lifetime member of the V.F.W. He enjoyed fishing, camping and Nebraska Football. Vaughn and Beth spent many winters in Texas. He is survived by his wife Beth of Hastings, NE, 4 children, 1 son, Doug Ochsner and wife Lu of Omaha, NE, 3 daughters, Cheryl Claussen and husband John of Phillips, NE, Leigh Ochsner of Cape Coral, Florida and Lynn Tank and husband Bob of Minden, NE . 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. 2 sisters, Betty Bierman of Kearney, NE, and Arliss McDowell and husband Arthur of Trumbull, NE. 1 brother, Duane Ochsner and wife Georga of Hastings, NE. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother and 1 brother Daryl. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church, Hastings, NE or the Tehama Temple Hospital Transportation Fund.
