Vera M. Pemberton

Vera M. Pemberton, 72, of Grand Island died peacefully, September 25, 2018 at home surrounded by her family.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday October 1, 2018 at St. Mary’s Cathedral with Father Scott Harter officiating. Interment will follow at the Grand Island City Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Sunday, September 30, 2018 with a rosary starting at 7 p.m. at the Apfel Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the family.

Vera was born on July 6, 1946 in Grand Island, the daughter of Henry and Consuelo “Connie” (Hernandez) Lopez Olivo. She grew up in Grand Island where she received her education.

Vera was united in marriage to Clifford Charles Pemberton on January 6, 1968 in Grand Island where the couple remained. She was employed as a housekeeper for Super 8 Lodge, a sales clerk for Wanek’s, and later as a delivery person for U-Save’s Pharmacy.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, enjoyed playing bingo, listening to music, playing Canasta, watching movies and spending time with her family.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son and daughter-in-law, John & Christine Pemberton of Grand Island; daughter and son-in-law, Sabrina & Brad Dickey of Grand Island; grandchildren, Tracy (Zack) Senkbile, Jonathan (Kaitie) Pemberton, and Mia Pemberton; great-grandchildren, Kaiden, Kristina, Liana and Adalyn Senkbile; three brothers and sister-in-law, Steve & Sue Lopez of Lincoln, Danny Lopez of Grand Island, David Lopez of Grand Island; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Rose Ann & Vicente Lopez of Grand Island and Marcy & Cruz Quintana of Lincoln.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Consuelo (Connie) Olivo & Henry Lopez; husband, Clifford (Roam) Pemberton; and sister, Guadalupe Lopez.
