Verna Roeder

April 2, 1921 — January 19, 2015

Kenesaw resident, Verna Roeder, 93 passed away, Monday, January 19th, 2015 at the Kenesaw Haven Home, Kenesaw.



Services will be at 10:30 am; Friday, January 23, 2015 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Kenesaw, NE. Burial will be in the Kenesaw Cemetery, Kenesaw. Book signing will be Thursday, January 22, 2015 from 2 pm to 8 pm at the Apfel Funeral Home, Kenesaw, NE. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.apfelfuneralhome.com. Apfel Funeral Home, Kenesaw is in charge of the arrangements



Memorials may be given to the family.



Verna was born April 2, 1921 to Louis and Elizabeth A. (Berg) Bourg in Prosser, NE. She attended Kenesaw High school and graduated in 1938. She married Sam Roeder on March 3, 1941 in Holdrege, NE, Sam passed away on February 22, 1994.



Verna worked as a seamstress at Mode-O-Day in Hastings for over 20 years.



She was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Kenesaw. She was active with the Adams County Historical Society for many years. She helped develop the Haven Home in Kenesaw.



Verna liked to cross-stitch, needle point, fishing, camping and gardening.



She is survived by two daughter in Laws, Linda Blankenbaker (Frank) of Hastings

and Ann Roeder of Macon, MO, two granddaughters, Theresa Cline (Jerry) of Kenesaw, NE and Deb Lewis (Mike) Aurora, CO, three great grandchildren, Rebecca Ehly (Brett) of Kenesaw, Matthew Cline of Hastings and Samantha Cline of Kenesaw and two great great grandchildren, Olivia Ehly and Mason Washington both of Kenesaw.



She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Sam and two sons, Thomas and Dennis.
