Kenesaw resident, Verona M. Schukei, 88, passed away Thursday, February 17, 2011 at Perkins Pavilion, Good Samaritan Society, Hastings-Village. Services will be Monday, February 21, 2011 at 10:30 AM at the Wanda Zion Lutheran Church near Juniata, NE with the Rev. Harold King officiating. Burial will be in the Wanda Zion Lutheran Churchyard Cemetery, near Juniata, NE. Visitation will be Saturday, February 19, 2011 from 9 AM to 9 PM and Sunday, February 20, 2011 from 1 PM to 5 PM at the Jackson-Wilson Funeral Home, Kenesaw, NE and one hour prior to service time at the church. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Verona was born October 6, 1922 to Edward and Ella (Heimsoth) Jagels in Davenport, NE. She attended Parochial School at St. Peters Lutheran in Davenport, NE. She graduated from the Davenport High School then attended Business College in Hastings, NE. She married Arthur Schukei on August 23, 1942, in Davenport, NE; he passed away in October 1997. Verona was a homemaker. She was a member of the Wanda Zion Lutheran Church near Juniata, NE and the Zionetz LWML, and she was involved in her church and community events. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by her children, daughter, Sharon Schukei of Gibbon, NE, and son, Darrell Schukei and wife Connie of Holstein, NE. 5 Grandchildren, Cory Ahlbrand and husband Steven of St. Louis, MO, Steven Schukei, of Holstein, NE, Stuart Schukei of Minneapolis, MN, Michael Schukei and wife Teresa of Kenesaw, NE and Stacy Gibbons and husband Michael, Omaha, NE, 10 great grandchildren, Brett, Jack and Abby Ahlbrand, Samuel, Haley, Lydia, Elise and Sophia Schukei, and Ally and Ethan Gibbons. 1 sister, Lera Koenig, 1 brother, Harold Jagels and wife Helen, 2 brother-in-laws, Wesley Schukei and wife Audrey and Eugene Nienhueser and wife Marjorie, 2 sister-in-laws, Lorena Werner and Anita Jagels, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Arthur and an infant son, Dean Allen, 1 brother Wayne Jagels, 2 brother-in-laws, Arthur Koenig and Elmer Werner, and 1 sister-in-law, Marilyn Nienhueser. Memorials may be given to Wanda Zion Lutheran Church near Juniata, NE or the familys choice.
