Virginia Stalker
Scottsdale, AZ Virginia Elizabeth Garrett Stalker, 94, died on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at Hospice of the Valley in Scottsdale, AZ.
A Graveside memorial service will be held at the Central City Cemetery on North Hwy 14 at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 15, 2017.
Virginia was born on September 10, 1922 near Palmer, NE, to Walter B. and Frankie (Good) Garrett. She was a graduate of Central City High School and attended Nebraska Central College in Central City. On June 29, 1941 she married Thayne Stalker of Archer. She obtained her elementary teaching certificate in August of 1941. Thayne and Virginia farmed in the Archer area until shortly before his death on December 24, 1984. In 1987 Mrs. Stalker moved to Grand Island where she worked at the business of her brother Wesley Garrett and later at Skagway. In May, 2007, she moved to Scottsdale, AZ.
Virginia was an accomplished seamstress and quilter and created beautiful needlework and handicrafts of all types. She was devoted to her family and extended family.
She is survived by a daughter Sue Stalker Adams of Scottsdale, AZ and her fianc, Fons de Reuver of Rotterdam, The Netherlands; and son Terry Stalker of Anchorage, AK; grandson Adam Stalker and his wife Janelle of Seattle, WA; granddaughter, Skyler Klagenberg and great granddaughter Alyssa Klagenberg of Monroe, WA; grandson Daniel Stalker of Seattle, WA; and brothers Mark of Great Bend, KS and David of Apache Junction, AZ; and a host of Garrett and Stalker nieces and nephews.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Thayne, son Gary, daughter Kathleen, her three sisters and their husbands, Helen and Leonard Hoffman, Mary and Hubert Fritz and Muriel and Howard Schroyer; brother Warren and his wife Theresa; brother Wesley; and all siblings of Thaynes family.
