Vivian J. Walters

Vivian J. Walters, 74 of Grand Island, died Sunday, September 20, 2015 at CHI St. Francis Health in Grand Island.

Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Thursday, September 24, 2015 at Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island. Interment will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery. Father Michael McDermott will be officiating.

Visitation will be from 5-7 P.M. Wednesday at Apfel Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the Nebraska Heart Institute or Central Nebraska Humane Society. Apfel Funeral Home is caring for the family.

Vivian J. Walters was born March 15, 1941 in Cornlea, Nebraska the daughter of Michael & Paula (Sullivan) Noonan. She grew up in Lincoln, graduating from Lincoln Pius X. She was united in marriage to Dal F. Walters on July 27, 1968, in Lincoln, NE.

She was previously employed by Charter Media, as an Account Executive, Cable USA, as a Sales Rep, Met Life and State Farm Insurance as a licensed agent. Most recently KRGI Radio in advertising sales.

She was a member of Resurrection Catholic Church, Chamber of Commerce and the Saddle Club. She was an avid fan of horse racing, attending daily for the live meet at Fonner Park and simulcast.

She loved her children and grandchildren more than life and enjoyed spending time with them. The most precious jewels around her neck were the arms of her children and grandchildren.

Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Jad (Kristi) Walters of Aurora, NE and Jay D. Walters of Grand Island, two grandsons, Cauy and Cort Walters of Aurora, sisters, Darlene Sievers of Lincoln and Doreen Miller of San Bernardino, CA, several nieces, nephews along with several dear and long time close friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Gene & Jim Noonan, a niece, Nancy Miller and a nephew, Tom Miller.
