Vivian "Lavone" Lavone Hynes

August 31, 1929 — December 18, 2015

Vivian LaVone Hynes, 86, of Hastings, formerly of Harvard died December 18, 2015 at Mary Lanning HealthCare.



Memorial services will be Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at 2pm, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Harvard. Visitation will be Monday, December 28, 2015 from 5-7pm at Apfel Funeral Home, Hastings, with a rosary following at 7 pm at the Apfel Funeral Home, Hastings, family and friends are invited. Apfel Funeral Home, Harvard, is in charge of the arrangements. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.apfelfuneralhome.com.

LaVone was born on August 31, 1929 in Hastings, NE to Phillip and Margaret (Eckhardt) Hahn. She grew up in Hastings and graduated from Hastings High School. She was united in marriage to James Hynes on April 18, 1949. The couple lived in Harvard, NE from 1953-2007, when they moved to Hastings. LaVone was employed by Hastings Regional Center until her retirement in 1989. She went to work at the Harvard Nursing Home for several years.



LaVone was a member of St. Joseph's Church and participated in the Ladies Alter Society. She belonged to the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, the Red Hat's Society and was a Girl Scouts Leader. She enjoyed playing cards with her friends and she was an avid bingo player and read many books. LaVone enjoyed spending time with her family and all the family trips they took. Her grandchildren were a great source of joy for her.



She is survived by her 5 children; Terry (Carol) Hynes of Mesa, AZ; Nan Hynes of North Platte, NE; Greg Hynes of Lincoln; Melissa Hynes of Lincoln, NE; Denise (Steve) Gabaldon of Cave Creek, AZ. Her 4 Grandchildren, Kory Hynes of Minnesota, Jocelyn Loutzenhiser of Lincoln, NE, Drew Loutzenhiser of Scotsbluff, NE, Nicole (Will) DeLoi of New Jersey and 3 great grandchildren; Austin Hynes, John & Rhiannon DeLoi. Her sister Joan (Marlin) Hartman , sister-in-law Florence Hahn all of Hastings, NE and many nieces and nephews.



She was preceded in death by her parents- Phillip & Margaret Hahn,her husband-James, brothers Harold & Donald Hahn, sisters Marion Falkner, Ann LaViolette, Doris Hahn, and Dorothy Hederich.
