Warren G. Dennis

Warren G. Dennis, 84 of Grand Island, died Monday, February 26, 2018 at Good Samaritan Society, Wood River, NE. from complication of dementia.



Celebration of Life will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 5, 2018 at Peace Lutheran Church with the Rev. Michael Reiners officiating. Burial will be in Grand Island Cemetery, with military honors by the United Veterans Honor Guard of Grand Island, and the United States Navy Honors Team. Visitation hours will be 4-7 p.m. Sunday, March 4, 2018 at the Apfel Funeral Home, Grand Island. Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date. Apfel Funeral Home is caring for the family.



Warren Glenn Dennis was born, September 8, 1933 in Wisner, Nebraska the son of William & Helga (Wegner) Dennis. He grew up and received his education in Wisner, where he was an All State Halfback, graduating from Wisner High School with the class of 1951.



He entered the United States Navy, June 25, 1951, serving during the Korean Conflict, and received his honorable discharge July 15, 1954.



He was united in marriage to Marian K. Martin, June 5, 1955 in Beemer, Nebraska. The couple made their home in Grand Island where he was employed as a commercial printer for Rinder Printing for over 40 years retiring in 1998. In retirement he worked for the Grand Island Public Schools and Stuhr Museum. His wife, Marian K. preceded him in death, April 13, 2017.



He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Grand Island, and a Korean War Veteran. He enjoyed woodworking, dancing and fishing.



Those left to cherish his memory include two sons & daughter-in-law, Mark & Cindy Dennis of Grand Island, Scott Dennis of Fort Collins, CO, two daughters & sons-in-law, Ann & Noel Guerard of Royalton, Minnesota, Tracy & Kevin Carpenter of Grand Island, 12 grandchildren, four great grandchildren, two sisters & brother-in-law. Darlene Lavia of Des Moines, Iowa, Sharon & Bob Schmidt of Omaha, NE.



He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Marian Dennis, a daughter, Becky Lou McElroy, October 20, 1983, his brother William Dennis.
