Rural Prosser resident, Waunetta (Neta Jeanne) Westing passed away Monday, August 26, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, NE. Services will be Saturday, August 31, 2013 at 10 am at the United Methodist Church in Kenesaw, NE, with Pastor Ilgha Ilunga officiating. Burial will be in the Kenesaw Cemetery, Kenesaw, NE. Visitation will be Friday, August 30, 2013 from 1 pm to 8 pm with the family present from 6 pm to 8 pm at the Apfel Funeral Home, Kenesaw. Neta was born March 4, 1926 in rural Kenesaw to Eugene and Lucy (Young) Osler. She attended District #52 a rural school in Adams County for six years then attended Kenesaw Public School and graduated in 1943. She taught rural schools in Hall and Adams County for five years. On June 6, 1948 she married Charles Westing in the Kenesaw Methodist Church. They resided on a farm in Buffalo County for four years and in 1952, moved to their farm near Prosser, NE. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Kenesaw, the United Methodist Women, choir and taught Sunday School. She helped organize the Little Misses 4-H club and was a leader. She was also a member of the New Idea Extension Club of Kenesaw. She is survived by her husband, Charles on Kenesaw, son Rev. Duane (Linda) Westing of Pawnee City, daughter, Nancy (Don) Wellensiek of Kenesaw, four grandchildren, Lance (Charlotte) Westing of Cordova, Alaska, Jill (Jess) Collicott of Omaha, Julie Westing of Denver, CO, Kelli (Stephen) Foreman, of Kodiak, Alaska, six great grandchildren, Makenna, Liam and Regan Collicott, Greyson and Landry Foreman and Sierra Westing, two step grandchildren, Annie and Rachel Valenziano, one sister, Lillian Baumann of Hastings and one sister-in-law, Georgia Osler of Kenesaw. She was preceeded in death by her parents and one brother Leonard Osler. Memorials may be given to the Kenesaw United Methodist Church or the Hastings YMCA.
