Hastings resident Wava J. West, 83 passed away Monday, October 15, 2012, at Perkins Pavilion, Good Samaritan Society, Hastings-Village. Services will be Friday, October 19, 2012 at 10 am at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home Chapel, Hastings, NE with Pastor Kenneth West officiating. Burial will be in Harvard Cemetery, Harvard, NE. Visitation will be Friday, October 19, 2012 from 9 am up till service time at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home Chapel, Hastings, NE. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Memorials may be given to the American Diabetics Association or Hospice. Wava was born November 1, 1928, to Clarence and Murl (Tennet) Pearson in Tecumseh, NE. She married Donald R. West on June 18, 1956 in Butte, Montana. They both were Salvation Army Officers at one time in Montana. Shortly afterwards they moved to Tacoma, WA, until 1970, when they moved to Nebraska,. They lived in Hastings from 1972 until late 1987. Wava was a homemaker during that time. In late 1987 they moved back to Tacoma, WA. In 1996 they returned to NE to be closer to their children. Wava was a people person and always enjoyed meeting people and helping others. She made many special friends through the years. Wava was a prayer warrior and spent many hours praying for others, even people she didnt know, if she heard of a need for prayer they were added to her prayer list. Wava loved the Lord and always tried to follow Gods leading in her life. She always enjoyed reading the Bible. She was also a avid Cornhusker fan no matter where she lived. She is survived by her husband Don, of Hastings, NE, three sons, Ronald L. of Sutton, NE, Blake E. of Gentry, Arkansas, and Kenneth J. of Ordway, CO, one daughter, Susan M. Baker of Omaha, NE, 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
