Wayne Rennau, 82, of Alda, died on February 9, 2018 at Good Samaritan Village in Grand Island, NE.
Funeral Services will be Wednesday February 14, 2018 at 11:00 at Peace Lutheran Church with the Reverend Mike Reiners officiating. Interment will be in the Aurora, NE cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 on Tuesday February 13th at Peace Lutheran Church. Apfel Funeral Home is caring for the family.
Wayne was born on November 7, 1935 at Aurora, NE to Claude and Susie (Salmon) Rennau. He grew up in Aurora and graduated from Aurora High School. He was united in marriage to Betty Mader on September 23, 1956. They farmed at Phillips for a year before moving to the farm south of Alda where they lived for 54 years, before moving to Grand Island in 2012.
Wayne's love of farming began as a young boy working on his Uncle's farm near Stockham. He spent his entire working life raising crops and cattle.
He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, a District #6 school board member, past Treasurer of the Wood River Rural Fire Board. He was a past member of the Central Nebraska Livestock Feeders Association, the Grand Island Saddle Club and the Platte-Deutsch Society.
Wayne enjoyed following his kids and grandkids in all of their 4-H, school, and other activities.
Those left surviving him are his wife Betty of Grand Island, Son James (Maureen) Rennau of Wood River, Daughter Kristi (Phil) Bowers of Alda, Daughter Karla (Craig) Boshart of Wood River, and Daughter Lora (Ron Hilton) Rennau of Longmont, CO. Grandchildren Nick (Abby) Rennau Mike (Jenifer) Rennau . Tim (Nicole) Rennau. Matthew Rennau. Blake (Chanda) Bowers. Angie Bowers. Rebecca (Madison) Farris Mitch Boshart. Kelly Boshart. Dan Boshart. Great Grandchildren Kendall, Burke, Huxley, Bowen, Paysen, and Andilyn
Those preceding him in death were his parents and his sister Norma (Warren) Anderson.
Memorials are suggested to the Wood River Community Centennial Foundation or the Wood River Fire Department.
