Wesley C. Dewey, 77, of Grand Island, died Friday, January 18, 2013 at Wedgewood Care Center, Grand Island, NE. Services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 21, 2013 at Peace Lutheran Church with the Rev. Michael Reiners officiating. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Cairo, Nebraska. Visitation hours will be 4-7 p.m., Sunday, January 20, 2013 at Apfel Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran School and Heartland Lutheran High School. Apfel Funeral Home is caring for the family. Mr. Dewey was born July 17, 1935 at Jamestown, North Dakota the son of Harold & Emma (Holweg) Dewey. He grew up in Jamestown, North Dakota area and received his education at a rural school in North Dakota. He entered the United States Army in 1953 and served until 1956 when he received his honorable discharge. He was united in marriage to Alice Denke, June 4, 1960 at Wall, South Dakota. The couple made their home in various places in Nebraska and South Dakota. While in Nebraska he was employed at New Holland and later at Rozum Motor Company in Mitchell, South Dakota. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Mitchell, South Dakota and Peace Lutheran Church in Grand Island. His hobbies included woodworking, yard work and tinkering with cars. Survivors include two daughters and sons in law; Barbara & Bill Brandt and Jeanne & Roger Buck both of Grand Island and two grandchildren, Allen & Rachel Buck of Albion and Brodrick Brandt of Grand Island.
