William 'Bill' F. Henry

William F. Bill Henry, 87, of St. Paul died Friday October 19, 2012, at Heritage Living Center in St. Paul. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island. The Rev. Scott Taylor will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Apfel Funeral Home. Bill was born April 22, 1925, at Burbank, California to Frank and Margaret Henry. He grew up and attended school in Burbank, where graduated from high school. He entered the U.S. Navy in 1941 serving in World War II. He received his honorable discharge in 1944. Following his military service Bill married his first wife, Lorraine. The couple had three children. Bill worked as an upholsterer in the furniture business and also did reupholstering of furniture. He later married Betty Stapleton on June 10, 1978, at Loves Chapel at Lake Tahoe. They made their home in St. Paul. The couple moved to Grand Island in 1989 and later returned to the St. Paul area. Bill was a member of American Legion Post 119 in St. Paul, and was a member of the Royal Coachmen Car Club. He had a great love of fishing and woodworking, but most of all was very loving and devoted to his wife, Betty. Survivors include his wife, Betty of St. Paul; two sons, William Henry, Jr. of California and Daniel Henry of Washington; and one daughter, Loretta Henry of California. Memorials are suggested to the Salvation Army.
