William Glen Poole

William Glen Poole, 71, of Grand Island died Saturday, June 27, 2015 at Wedgewood Care Center in Grand Island.

Services will be at 10:30 am on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at Third City Christian Church in Grand Island with Rev. Scott Jones officiating. Interment will be at Westlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday evening from 5 to 7 pm at Apfel Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the family to designate. Apfel Funeral Home is serving the family.

Mr. Poole was born on September 13, 1943 in Grand Island, the son of William and Christina (Sorgenfrei) Poole. Glen grew up in Grand Island and attended Grand Island Public Schools.

Glen was united in marriage to Leona Lee Haussermann on January 24, 1965 in Bloomington, NE. The couple lived in Grand Island where Glen worked at the Ordinance Plant, Modern Farms, Firestone Tires, and for 17 years at CHI Health St. Francis until his health forced his retirement.

Glen enjoyed wood working and made many items for family and friends. He especially loved his grandchildren.

Glen is survived by his wife of 50 years, Leona Lee of Grand Island, a son Troy Poole of Lincoln, a daughter Gayla Coats of Giltner, 3 sisters, Rosie Nelson of Phillips, Elaine Sims of Windsor, CO, Delores Cross of Kansas City, KS, two brothers, Donald Poole of Grand Island and Martin Poole of Scottsbluff, three grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Glen was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
