William D. Wilson

Hastings, Nebraska

William D. Wilson, 79, of Hastings, NE died on March 5, 2024 at Good Samaritan Village Perkins Pavilion in Hastings. A Celebration of Life will be held at All Saints Chapel located in Good Samaritan Village in Hastings, NE on Monday, March 18, 2024 at 11:00 am with Pastor Dale Phillips officiating. Apfel Funeral Home is in care of the family.

William "Bill" Dee Wilson was born in Mexia, TX on January 6th, 1945 to Fay and Margie (Moody) Wilson.

Bill attended grade school in Arnold, NE, Mexia, and Pasadena, TX. He graduated from Arnold High School in 1963. He attended Elkins Institute of Radio Technology in Dallas, TX and Lineman School in Nebraska. 

Bill was a TV switcher at several television stations and also worked as a technician and construction crewman for TCI Cable Television in Hastings. He then worked as an Electrical Lineman at Hastings Utilities from 1982-2000. He retired in 2000 due to health reasons. During his retirement he enjoyed delivering pizzas for Pizza Hut. 

Bill married Beulah May Parker in 1966. They were blessed with a son, Billy Earl Wilson. 

Bill married Karen (Katzberg) Wilson in 1978 and they were blessed with a son, Elias J Bair. 

Bill loved to listen to and sing country music,  fish for bass and blue gill, pluck his guitar and watch tv, especially Days of Our Lives. He died with a forever and fierce love for the state of Texas. 

Survivors include his wife Karen, son Billy and his wife Nancy of Dayton, TX, son Elias and his wife Jo of Hastings, NE. Grandchildren Meagan, Emily, Danielle, Syerra, Tyler, Everleigh, and seven great-grandchildren. Sister, Jo Carol and her husband Louis White, nephews Willis, Darrin,  and Trent. Brother-in-law Ken and his wife Anne Katzberg, sister-in-law Cindy and her husband Sam West with nieces Jennifer, Bekky, and Michaela. Great-niece Madeline and great-nephews Morgun and Madden. 

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, mother-in-law Lorraine (Iden) Katzberg, father-in-law Dale Katzberg, brother-in-law Willis White, nephew Drew Katzberg, and numerous aunts and uncles. 

Memorials may be designated to Heartland Pet Connection, where Bill found his buddy Jackson or to enCourage Advocacy Center’s Rebuild program.
