Zelma M. Sandoe

Harvard resident, Zelma M. Sandoe, 93, passed away, Monday, March 1, 2010 at the Harvard Rest Haven, Harvard, NE. Services will be Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at 11 AM at the First Christian Church with the Rev. Dr. Judith Allen officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 PM at the Harvard Cemetery, Harvard, NE. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 2, 2010 from 1 PM to 9 PM at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home, Hastings, NE and one hour prior to the service at the church. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Zelma was born April 19, 1916 to Alphus and Mabel (Swartz) Kunselman in Harvard, NE. She graduated from the Harvard High School, Harvard NE in 1936. She worked at the Harvard Air Base, and then worked as a seamstress at Mode-O-Day, in Hastings, NE, and in housekeeping at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital. She married Jacob Sandoe on January 4, 1946 in Harvard, NE. They farmed near Clay Center, NE until 1953 moving to a farm near Hastings, moving into Hastings in 1969. She was a member of the First Christian Church, in Harvard, and Hastings, NE, She was a past president, and 50 year member of the Eagles Auxiliary and lifetime member of the Rebecca Lodge. She was member of the Eagles Camping Club and a member of the YWCA, in Hastings, NE. She is survived by, 2 step-sons, Frank Sandoe and Lloyd Sandoe and wife Maxine, all of Hastings, NE. 1 step-daughter, Donna Jaeger and husband Allen of Doniphan, NE, 1 daughter-in-law, Betty Sandoe and spouse Larry Holder of Grand Island, NE. 4 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild. 1 sister, Iris (Saathoff) Campbell, Hastings, NE. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jacob, April 25, 1988, son, Wade and 1 sister Lois Laughlin and 2 granddaughters. Memorials may be given to the First Christian Church, Hastings, NE.
